The purpose of a newspaper is to provide information on newsworthy topics, this can be about any event or issue that takes place, which can be considered important to the majority of the population. Another purpose of a newspaper is to entertain, entertainment can be provided by reporting about events, reporting on celebrities or having games in the newspaper. The a magazine has three purposes - to inform, to entertain and to promote. Magazines can be used to inform people about events that may take or have taken place. Magazines can be used to entertain people by reporting on celebrities, social events, music, films, fashion and other point of interest. Magazines can be used to promote a company, company product, a television show, music and many more.

A poster is used to communicate messages, concepts and findings, this is done using simple and understandable terminology, using pictures charts and shapes that is relevant to an audience. The purpose of a poster is to persuade, inform and entertain. The purpose of a poster is to persuade a consumer to try a product, to change their point of view and to make you think or do something. Another purpose of a poster is to inform a consumer, by giving them information regarding a certain issue, product or event and to give you facts regarding that same topic. In terms of entertainment, a poster is used to make you laugh or to grab your interest.

The purpose of an advertisement is to make consumers aware of a product or service, to convince customers that your company's product or service will suit their needs and to create an urge or a desire for your product for your service. An advertisement may also be used to enhance the image of your company, announce and promote new products or draw customers to your business. This is done by aiming at a particular type of customer, these are chosen carefully using chosen language and they are made to appeal to an aspect of the consumers personality.

The purpose of sports events is to provide coverage of sports, this is to promote the sport, develop a interest for the sport. When sports events that are sponsored are organised, the main objective is to raise money for charities to help and raise environmental awareness.

The purpose of photojournalism to use images to articulate a story and to inform the consumer about the story as much as they can. Photojournalism normally features a something that is currently on the news or something that it is trending/everyone is talking about. Photojournalism is not biased, as does not take any sides to a story and most images show events as they are.

The purpose of computer games is to provide entertainment for people, there are different types of video games which include; Simulations, Adventure, Puzzle, Combat, Educational and Stealth Shooter games. Computer gaming is also a business, which people can make money from by becoming professional gamers. Professional gamers make money by advertising products and services, they have host channels and websites where people can view their gameplay and they take part in competitive events where they take on other gamers.
